Daddy’s little girl.
Just when Duke grudgingly allows Viola into the Network, Daddy Dearest, still possessed and more obsessed with Viola than ever, reappears. While trying to stay one step ahead of the demon, Viola struggles to overcome fears about her surprise demonic heritage while learning to control her new abilities. Especially the one that has her raising zombie squirrels in the middle of the afternoon. Together, Duke and Viola deal with dangerous demons, centuries of family secrets, and a mysterious link that may bind them together for life.
Book One of the Family Lies Series
Daughter of Deception (Family Lies) is the first book in a new series written by author Kara Thorpe...
Reading this story was easy, it was fun and entertaining and had very enjoyable and fully fleshed out believable main characters in Viola and Tobias... Every page I flipped on my Kindle engrossed me more, would have read the book in one day if had the time to do so all in one shot!
Viola was the third child born into the Ashwood family, she never fit in and when her beloved father disappeared on her 16th birthday she was devastated! Now at 25 after learning that daddy dearest was possessed by an evil demon all those years ago all she wants is to find him and rid the world of his existence for good!
In this quest Viola has to enlist the aid and help of Tobias Duke, her lifelong crush and hero of her childhood! Tobias being the head of the "Network" a "demon" eradication/hunting unit that he and Viola grew up hunting demons together in until she left her team members behind after one of them lost their life due to her father....
The entire book is one big adventure in demon chasing, the most interesting part is watching as Viola embraces her emerging powers and instead of using them for evil and wrongdoing like her father wishes she uses them for good... As Viola uncovers more lies and more secrets time ticks down to the final showdown with she and her father. Tobias and Viola are a wonderful couple, it is enjoyable to watch them playfully spar and tease with each other verbally... Even more enjoyable to watch as they slowly let their guard down and both finally admit the inevitable love they share for each other.. Not only did I read and cheer on the romance but as Viola surmounted each obstacle she faced I turned the pages faster and faster to see how it all turned out!
Having finished book 1 immediately clicked the buy button for book two The Chaos Child (Family Lies) and am looking forward to reading it soon!
