Car mechanic Mercy Thompson has always known there was something different about her, and not just the way she can make a VW engine sit up and beg. Mercy is a shapeshifter, a talent she inherited from her long-gone father. She's never known any others of her kind. Until now.
An evil is stirring in the depths of the Columbia River-one that her father's people may know something about. And to have any hope of surviving, Mercy and her mate, the Alpha werewolf Adam, will need their help...

River Marked (Mercedes Thompson, #6)River Marked by Patricia Briggs
The tone and feel of the book is noticeably more relaxed, not only does the entire story line feature Mercy and Adam but it also allows us a chance to enjoy them together in a way that previous plots did not.... In River Marked we get the fun of seeing Mercy and Adam married and head off on a 10 day Honeymoon, learn about Mercy's heritage that in past books was only vaguely touched on, meet some new characters that are pressed into helping Mercy try to defeat a new Monster and all in all this was a good read that flowed easy and fast page after page... While feeling that the book is more relaxed reading as far as the pace, the story itself still has the pulse pounding action of the rest of the books in this series, as well as the gritty and darker undertones that characterize every encounter with Mercy and her penchant for getting into trouble... I have not found a book in the series yet that did not make me happier to have read it than this one... I enjoyed all the nuances of Mercy and Adam learning that being married to each other changed a few of the dynamics in their relationship... Funny how a little thing like loving someone and caring for their well-being translates to a whole different level when that person becomes your spouse instead of just one half of a committed relationship! I cannot explain it better than that but the author took two well loved characters to a whole new level and whatever happens in the next story in this series I think this one will stay a favorite along with the story in Silver Borne!

Great review Jackie! I still haven't read this one either. Kept putting it off. Reading similar reviews that it was good, but I kind of like the heart pounding action that was in the previous books.

I still might give this one a try. Maybe when it's paperback or maybe I'll see if my library has it...whenever I get the chance to read a book not on my TBR pile!

Great Review Jackie, you KNOW how much I adored this book.

Jessica,
don't short change yourself. This is the best book of the series. If you've read the others it isn't to be missed. There are elements of it that are just as exciting, and pulse pounding as the others, it isn't all sweetness and mush, its a head spin.

Teri yes a very interesting story and love Adam and Mercy more now than ever!

Jessica seriously read it, the action is still there but just slower paced than most of the rest of the series...

Naj, if you have not started the series you really need to soon, you will become a fan just like the rest of us!

Laurie, yes I do know you loved this one and believe me it is staying in my shelves for a reread someday!
