                                        Lord of Temptation

                                          by Paula Quinn

EVERY WOMAN'S DESIRE Norman lord Dante Risande never met a woman he couldn't seduce…until a lovely slave named Gianelle refuses his bed and piques his interest. So when she's accused of murder, he can't sit idly by. As the King's right hand, it's his duty to investigate. But in order to save her, he must buy her. NO MAN'S POSSESSION A slave all her life, Gianelle wants nothing to do with men. Especially this silver-eyed, velvet tongued warrior. What she wants is her freedom, not to become another of Dante's conquests. But as the only suspect in the killing of her last master, she has no choice except to put her faith in Dante…a man who questions everything, including her innocence.

My first Paula Quinn, I am in love!!! I was enthralled when went to her web site and read the break down of what the settings were for her books, especially the ones set with Highland characters piqued my curiosity. I am slowly renewing my love of Historical Romance and when I entered the contest to win the back list of Paula Quinn for her May giveaway I really did not think would be chosen for the books. This is the first book of 5 to read that proved me wrong. I am not being compensated or asked by Ms. Quinn to review the books as I read them, it is a pleasure and a privilege to do so!!!

The book is set in 1701 in Devohshire England to start, just typing that date makes me cringe as everything you had to do back then was major hard work!!!! We start out making the acquaintance of Gianelle and Casey as they are planning their escape from their Master's home. Enter stage left and we go to the main hall where Gia is on her way with a platter of food for her lord's guests, food which she will never get to share. Servants in this time lived hard lives, much of this is detailed for us by Paula Quinn in a manner that allows the reader to look firsthand through Gia and Casey's eyes. The two young women are fair representatives of their time period and stations in life.
I was laughing and crying reading this story, not only is Gia strong willed but also a survivor in a world ruled by men who consider women to be weak inferior creatures. The exception to this rule in her world comes in the form of Dante, at first he does not win her trust but when he does he also wins her heart.
I was very easily able to sit down and read this book, it was a fast fun romp through a period of time that would never have made it through myself. I did not have any problems following the well drawn characters and their many connections. The main and 2ndry characters all become good companions on the journey we take with Gia and Dante.
My love of all things historical and romantic came together in a story of passion, danger, and intrigue. The HEA for Dante and Gia made me smile and looking forward to more of their adventures from Paula Quinn..

Book Rat: Twitter Fanfic Contest!!!

Book Rat: Twitter Fanfic Contest!!!

This is what started the contest as per Misty:

Here's the idea:
Jane Austen inspiried fan fiction, Twitter style. This means super condensed down to 140 characters or less.
That's
characters, people, not words -- and characters as in letters and whatnot, not Darcy and Lizzie and a cast of 142 others.

So. They can be silly, serious, the ultimate Cliffs Notes, a little poem -- whatever, as long as it's Jane-like and 140 characters or less.
So here is mine:
Marry me, Lizzie!/ Not even if you had behaved in a more gentleman-like manner! Oh, you've humbled yourself, and me as well - I do!/ I, too!
To find out more on how to do this and to enter follow the link to BOOK RAT! You know you want to try this it will be fun.....

CAUGHT

Available March 23, 2010 US (UK, April 15, 2010)
From the #1 New York Times bestselling master of suspense comes a fast-paced, emotion-packed novel about guilt, grief, and our capacity to forgive.
17 year-old Haley McWaid is a good girl, the pride of her suburban New Jersey family, captain of the lacrosse team, headed off to college next year with all the hopes and dreams her doting parents can pin on her. Which is why, when her mother wakes one morning to find that Haley never came home the night before, and three months quickly pass without word from the girl, the community assumes the worst.
Wendy Tynes is a reporter on a mission, to identify and bring down sexual predators via elaborate—and nationally televised—sting operations. Working with local police on her news program Caught in the Act, Wendy and her team have publicly shamed dozens of men by the time she encounters her latest target. Dan Mercer is a social worker known as a friend to troubled teens, but his story soon becomes more complicated than Wendy could have imagined.

In a novel that challenges as much as it thrills, filled with the astonishing tension and unseen suburban machinations that have become Coben’s trademark, Caught tells the story of a missing girl, the community stunned by her loss, the predator who may have taken her, and the reporter who suddenly realizes she can’t trust her own instincts about this case—or the motives of the people around her.

They can be old, new or forthcoming. It's also an event that you can join in with too - Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own 'On My Wishlist' post. I hope you will join in! If you want to know more click here(Idea inspired by The Story Siren)
