                                                       by Stella Cameron

Forced to witness unspeakable horrors...
Born of an ancient family of clairvoyants, Marley Millet finds that her psychic gift is both unsettling and incredibly dangerous. She never wants to “travel” again—but the choice is not hers to make.
After glimpsing the fates of two missing New Orleans jazz singers, Marley knows she has no choice and must speak up before more women disappear. Flinty cop-turned-writer Gray Fisher, who interviewed both chanteuses before they vanished, takes a special interest in Marley’s incredible story—and in Marley.
Scouring the wild clubs of the French Quarter, Marley and Gray make an unlikely and uneasy team. But their determination is matched only by the heat between them...and the evil they have uncovered.

My 2nd Stella Cameron book to read and my first book in the Court Of Angels series took me about a day to really get into. The story is set in New Orleans which was part of it's appeal that drew me to these books and since got them on Paperback Swap it was not such a huge gamble and expense to try them out to read something different from my Vamps, Weres and other bumpies in the night paranormal books...

The story of Marley Millet is an interesting mix of the paranormal, romance, murder mystery thriller and the never ending battle we wage between forces of good and evil.. Her brother Sykes, sister Willow and Uncle Pascal also appear as major 2ndry characters in this first installment in the series.

The Millet's are an unusual mix of paranormal talent from Marley and her traveling, Sykes and his ablility to become invisible, Willow and her empathy and Uncle Pascal the patriarch and all around father figure to the 3.

Marley is drawn in to a police investigation and meets Gray Fisher, which in turn leads to their working together and eventually over the course of the story becoming a bit more than, shall we say, "just friends".

I will have to say that this book did not really "grab" me in and keep me in one sitting. I quit several times because of other more important things that needed to be done and several times because I got slightly tired of the drama not leading to any kind of resolution at the point of the story I stopped.

I am happy to say though that before getting more than halfway through the book's pace picked up and finished it early this morning in one big "gulp" of reading...

I am going to read book 2 next which is Willow's story and let us hope it holds my interest a little better because of the 3 siblings, for me, she is the one with the best "character" to follow and am looking forward to it...

Historic home tour shows early Austin

When rambling around on You Tube I found this neat old Stone Home on a news segment in Austin...
I think maybe they are nuts saying can live in the Texas heat in this house without Central Air Conditioning but if I owned it the view would be worth the perspiration, maybe!!! See for yourself...
