The Adventures of "Rocky" the Kidney Stone....

Ever since Thursday April first, April Fool's Day, my sweet husband has been having problems with a Kidney Stone trying to pass. On Easter Sunday he ended up in so much pain and so sick that took him to the Emergency Room where a CT Scan showed up a 3mm stone that was stuck in his ureter tube down from his right Kidney. The next week after the ER visit we went to his family doctor because the stone had started it's journey again and in doing so my husband found out that the prescription pain medicine  (Toradol) was not strong enough to alleviate the spasms so it was necessary to get some Vicodin!!!! The family doctor told him that Tuesday the 6th of April that he had maybe an 85% chance of passing the stone within say a 2 week period. He referred my husband to a Urologist in Austin Texas about an hour or more drive away from us in down town. This Doc was seen the next day on Wednesday the 7th in the morning and while waiting there was a 20 minute episode of pain that subsided before they took an X-ray and saw the stone had traveled down into the tube further since that last Sunday the 4th. The Urologist then had my husband schedule for the next Wednesday April 14th to have a repeat CT Scan to determine whether he would need the stone surgically removed if it had not passed already. On to take the CT scan and in the meantime that weekend only one episode of pain which meant of course the stone was moving again, luckily it was very short and with the Vicodin tablet easily weathered.
"Rocky" made his presence known again that next week on Tuesday the 20th and again it was a short episode and Vicodin saved the day!
The next day on the 21st once again to the Urologist office for the CT results, the stone had moved almost to the bladder by that point but still had not gone on and passed. Surgery was then scheduled for MAY 18th, with lab prior on the 11th.

GOOD NEWS THURSDAY, "Rocky" is now "wild and FREE" of his confinement in my husbands body. The stone passed about 9:30 am this morning on Thursday May 6th, a month after being diagnosed by the ER doctor and 2 weeks past how long it should have taken!!!

This "lovely" picture is "Rocky" in
all his glory and he is one ugly something something .........
{3mm by 6mm stone}

I have included 4You Tube Videos for a little Viewing of the laser surgery that my husband would not have had {if squeamish you might not want to watch this one}, a Doctor giving some good info, an animated example of what goes on and then a Registered Dietitian who has the best advice I found to pass on!!

First off I apologize for the length of this post, it is something my family has been agonizing over for the past month and the information above on how to prevent this from happening to you is very good advice. I hate to say it people but the main culprits are the ones we love the most, too much soda too much chocolate candy and too much meat in our daily diets!!! Here is hoping this helps someone who sees it so they will not have to go through what has been described to us by every female who has had them in these words over and over "It is preferable to birth a child than pass a kidney stone"!!!

Star Shadow: Book Blogging Buddies

This is a really neat new way for all the book loving bloggers to connect. Star Shadow has come up with a plan to get blogger buddy pair ups and this way they would be able to interact in real life by writing, sharing books, trading books  and generally getting to know each other by "connecting" besides just by commenting on each others blogs and emailing. The plan is to make reading even more fun by allowing book bloggers to share their love with others who like the same type of books and even maybe branch out into different reading by exchanging books that you normally might not try!!

Head over to the site via the link and see what Star has in mind and maybe sign up for some of the fun!!!

Desire Never Dies

Daisy O'Donnell doesn't get the attraction some women feel for vampires. She likes her men with a heartbeat. And she's just met one who's full of life: Erik Delacourt, the unreasonably sexy man she keeps meeting at a popular L.A. nightclub called the Crypt. She barely knows him, but there's no resisting the connection she feels. . .
There's one important detail Erik hasn't gotten around to telling her yet. He's a powerful vampire out to hunt the Blood Thief who is draining young vampires all over the city--and who has just raised the stakes by destroying one of Erik's friends. To Erik, Daisy is a bright spot of innocence in a world of darkness and menace. He'll do anything--even lie to her--to keep her safe and pure.
If only he knew that Daisy has something of her own to hide. . .

As a young adult in my twenties I discovered the wonderful stories written by Madeline Baker. The magic she created in her Historical Romances drew me in to her wonderful stories like a moth to a flame. Her poetic prose and wonderfully vivid main characters enthralled me in the late 80's and early 90's, then I discovered her alter ego Amanda Ashley and my love affair with all her Paranormal Romance stories began and continues to this day in 2010. Long before the vampire craze of today Mandy was writing about her handsome, beguiling bad boy vamps that no human male or female could resist even if they wanted to . Unlike the Dark, Sinister and morose vampires I was in love with by Anne Rice these creatures created by Amanda Ashley were adaptable and could move in the modern world with ease. They are all  a mixture of good and evil characters that would be considered monsters by any stretch of the imagination, yet at the same time with enough humanity that the main character of each book was able to "redeem" himself by the end of the story..

Everlasting Kiss is the story of Daisy O'Donnell and over 300 year old Vampire Erik Delacourt. The story is in it's simplicity a boy meets girl tale, they fall in love and live HEA, Not So Much!!!
The seemingly sweetly innocent Daisy and the sinfully sexy vampire out to make this human female his own no matter what lie he has to tell or action he has to take is a story which will draw the reader in slowly and never let you go until the last page...
In this story Daisy and Erik meet at a nightclub called The Crypt, share one dance and the attraction is immediate and intense for both of them. At first Erik only sees his next meal and then things change and he sees Daisy for what she really is to him, someone he never thought he would meet in his immortal lifetime a woman he can love and cherish forever. Daisy too feels deeply for the first time in her short human life, she finds herself completely unable to put Erik Delacourt out of her mind after that first night.
Okay beautiful human woman, hot male vamp why not get together right?
Wrong! Daisy has no clue that Erik is a vampire and due to her "line of work"  and her "family business" is not really someone who would willingly actually be in the same room with one.
Their mutual desire draws them together and in time both discover the other's secrets. At first this pushes them apart but they cannot stay away from each other, the Vampire and the human woman.
The bottom line is that even though both know it cannot work out they cannot seem to make their heads dictate to their hearts until there is a family tragedy which finally drives a wedge between Daisy and Erik that seems unsurmountable at the time. During this time the head of the vampire group that Erik is tied to by fealty, Rhys Costain confronts Erik about his loyalty as there has been a target painted on Rhys for some time for the vampire hunters to collect a huge bounty if he is dispatched and proof is provided. Erik works with Rhys to discover the identity of this "hit's" benefactor and in doing so enlists the help of Daisy and her brother Alex,  who all along has been one of the "Vampire Hunters"   trying very hard to collect the bounty and had actually found Rhys at one point and tried to dispatch him without success. The perpetrator is found, their is retribution by Rhys and this ultimately leads to the final curtain in which Daisy almost dies at the hands of Damon a vampire in Rhys's group. Erik arrives in the nick of time and saves the day with his Everlasting Kiss!

I get my HEA with a twist and we are now able to look forward to the next installment in which Mandy writes the story of Rhys coming out in October 2010 per Mandy's website. You can read about it HERE .
