In bouncing around lately have read and loved
many posts by many different people about the
authors they are reading now and have read in
the past.
In childhood, too many years past to count, I
was a lover of being read to by my parents. The
2 people in my life who could always be counted
on to show me love and affection no matter what
kind of shenanigans I would find to pull taught
me very young to love the written word and never
can thanks be expressed deeply enough by me to
them both for that wonderful gift.
To start out as a young reader I like many
before me was a fan of picture books for
children. Next came a fascination for comic
books, Superman, XMEN, Spiderman. Any
kind of action adventure would do for me.
As a middle school and pre-teen my reading was
dictated by my teachers and consisted of the
classics we were required to read in class. At
home though my reading was any book my
Dad had on hand, mostly Westerns and some
weird books from a cousin that were Sci-Fi.
I am so glad that cousin gave us books to read,
I discovered Andre Norton and other early
leaders in the Genre and fell totally in love!
Teen years changed my habits in reading, I
became a devoted reader of all things Romance.
The most memorable writer that I read was
Barbara Cartland and 2nd to her was Judith
McNaught and Jude Deveraux. All 3 of these ladies
were gifting me with a background in the theory that
there was a HEA to be found in life, you just had to
work hard for it!
Later teen years wonder of wonders happened and I
discovered Anne Rice and my love of all things
Paranormal was firmly established to this day.
The Mayfair Witches and The Vampire Chronicles
became for me the epitome of what a writer should
release for their readers to enjoy. These 2 series were
read and re-read by me for years and I still have
some of my Vampire Chronicle favorites in my
bookshelves. (over 20 years now)
Now in my late 40's my reading is eclectic, from UF
to PNR to Mystery Thriller to Erotic Romance to
Action Adventure with the likes of Dirk Pitt and
Jason Bourne to Historical Romance to reading books
that have become movies and a whole lot of somewhere
in between the genres listed.
